| While the 1980s Los Angeles rock scene will forever be associated with pretty-boy glam metal, it also spawned one of the most in-your-face, streetwise, and controversial bands of the era, Guns N' Roses. Axl Rose & company's roots lay in The Stones, Aerosmith, and The New York Dolls, but they added a pop-metal edge that brought them huge success. Criticized for its often non-p.c. approach, the original band lost its members one at a time, until Rose was the last man standing by the late '90s. |
